I use adzap for squid and it works like a charm, it blocks about 80% of ad banners and it does a decent job of squelching popups. It doesn't actually remove them, but the windows pop-up empty and dont' spawn further popups. It's even in the ports collection now (/usr/ports/www/adzap/) --Chris -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of Scott Nolde Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2001 3:37 PM To: Joe & Fhe Barbish Cc: FBSD Questions Subject: Re: Block WWW advertizing banners & auto spawn web pages using ipfilter or ipfw smacked into the keyboard previously by owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG: >Date: Tue, 25 Dec 2001 23:10:07 -0500 >From: Joe & Fhe Barbish <barbish@a1poweruser.com> >To: FBSD Questions <questions@FreeBSD.ORG> >Subject: Block WWW advertizing banners & auto spawn web pages using > ipfilter or ipfw > >Is there a way using firewalls to identify www advertising Banners & the >auto spawning of wed pages so they can be blocked? > > >To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org >with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message > Junkbuster works like a charm and is easily configurable. If you've got a bunch of users I'd recommend squid for speed. I highly recommend junkbuster for your home/personal use.
