I saw the same error on aic7902 (Adaptec 39320D). After running buildworld
with the latest sources. In my case i couldnt mount root anymore, even if
I typed it in manually. I've also got mangled entries messages.

I am running AMD64 version.

I am currently testing different setups of harddisks, cables and make
worlds to determine the culprit. See
