I boot my kernel from a floppy disk. To make it small enough to fit on the disk, I strip it and gzip it. By stripping I lose the ability to gather system stats via top, or vmstat. Is there a way to restore the information lost due to stripping to the already running kernel? Is there a way to create a boot disk with less overhead than the one used for kern.flp?
