New binutils have recently been added to -STABLE, so to up grade from before the binutils change to after you have to (roughly speaking): cd /usr/src make buildworld make buildkernel # install the kernel reboot cd /usr/src ; make installworld mergemaster This has been documented on the freebsd-stable mailing list if you need more details.
