I'm trying to use the mikachan font
(http://sourceforge.jp/projects/mikachan/), but for some reason X refuses to
recognize the font as being fixed-width and thus I cannot use it in the
applications I want to use it in.

Windows recognizes the font as fixed-width without any hitch. I am totally
clueless as to where even start and try to work around this. Where is the bug
in - freetype, X, xft?

Any hints much appreciated,
