I am aware that both are needed; I refer instead to the conflict between
doom and mdqs.  Here are the lines of interest from my services: 

% grep 666 /etc/services 
mdqs            666/tcp 
mdqs            666/udp 
doom            666/tcp    #doom Id Software
doom            666/udp    #doom Id Software

You will note that both mdqs and doom coexist on the same ports.  One of
these is presumably legitimate, allocated by IANA; the other is presumably
not.  I have not checked which is legitimate.
