I don't know, what is going during "make world" without "-DNOAOUT" (10 hours for compilation is too much for me). But I'm using "make buildworld" & "make installworld" with "-DNOAOUT" (for "make installworld" too - for preventing from error occurence) and in this case lkms really aren't updated.
