I usually use the 'rm -rf /dir /dir2' to do the job like this.

# rm -rf /usr/local/* /usr/X11R6/* /compat/linux/* /var/db/pkg/*  
/var/db/ports/*

Remove /compat/linux if you don't use any of linux stuff. It's what great  
about BSD is hier(7) by keep base system and ports seperate.
