For hardware configuration see the attachments. While booting 14.1 from a USB stick (install media) or while booting from a drive after system installation the 'Safe Mode' option (whatever it does) MUST be set (= "7" -> "M" in bootup menu). Otherwise the system freezes during boot up (see the screenshot); no error messages can be seen (see the log).
