if you read the link to "Getting FreeBSD" from the http://www.freebsd.org site, it will link you to the handbook, then on to the ftp site. Look in there. It may not be hand holding or breast feeding, but it's still pretty straight forward. Looking for 3.5, you should eventually find yourself in a directory located at ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/3.5.1-RELEASE/floppies / and make sure you read the README.txt. -Otter }-----Original Message----- }From: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG }[mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of Danny }Sent: Thursday, November 16, 2000 4:47 PM }To: Dr. MindBender; questions@FreeBSD.ORG }Subject: Re: floppies? } } } }You can setup a modem on your 486 }then get the 2 boot disk for FreeBSD from the www.freebsd.orgt } }Then install it via the Internet } }checkout the FreeBSD handbook for more details } }On Thu, 16 Nov 2000, Dr. MindBender wrote: }> >%_hello, }> i wanted to know if it was possible to get freeBSD on 3.5 }floppy format? is there a folder on the ftp to download the }floppy files? i have an old 486 machine im planning on }installing it on.. it doesnt have a cd-rom drive please help }if you can }> -jeff }> my email address is opfor001@netscape.net }> } }---------------------------------------- }Content-Type: text/html; name="unnamed" }Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable }Content-Description: }---------------------------------------- } } }To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org }with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
