>From Michael Lucas' Absolute FreeBSD book page 550: FreeBSD can include a status check of your mirrored disks in its daily periodic(8) run. Just add the line daily_status_gmirror_enable="YES" to /etc/periodic.conf. Not sure about other raid types beyond mirrors.
