I can happily report that your modifications have (at least) prevented a
lockup or reboot following a: service netif restart. Prior to your
work, this was never possible. It also cleanly associates w/o struggle.
Association more often than not failed or struggled repeatedly
attempting to connect properly.

In an effort to limit any unique variables, I built a completely GENERIC 
kernel.

# uname -a
FreeBSD fbsd15 15.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 15.0-CURRENT #0
