As it turns out, nothing on my list is found as a dependency by pkg. So I deleted them all. Nothing has complained yet. Thank you, Michael, for aiming me in the right direction. And: to (partially) answer my original question - junit and/or hamcrest want openjdk8. Respectfully, Robert Huff
