This evening I trashed my password file (it was my own stupid
fault!). Anyway, I shutdown and brought the system up single user,
mounted all the filesystems and the 2nd CD, started /stand/sysinstall,
and selected FIXIT but at the option screen (CD, floppy, holographic
shell) none of the options worked. When I selected any of them all
that happened was that the HD LED flashed. That was it. Nothing.
I got round the problem by cp'ing ``passwd'' and ``master.passwd''
from the CD to /etc and running ``pwd_mkdb'', then ``vipw'' to add the
other users, but why didn't FIXIT work? Is this a bug (if so it's
pretty serious)?.
