Note, we benchmarked the internal MWAVE modem vs. a 28.8K PCMCIA
Sportster, and even thought the modem claimed to do 33.6 the Sportster
*ate* it for lunch.  It acted like a 9600 baud modem, although at times
we could get burst of high speed.

In short, I was not impressed with it, so all of our ThinkPad users now
have external modems (or ethernet/modem combos).

ps. None of the above tests were done under FreeBSD, obviously.

pps. We were running the most recent patches from IBM as well.
