Ok, I installed FreeBSD 3.4 the other day on a Compaq Deskpro at work
and everything went great or so I thought. Yesterday, I was using
/stand/sysinstall to install some packages included in the CD ROM set
but when I selected CD ROM as media type, I got an error message saying
"CD ROM device not found". I don't understand this. When I installed
FreeBSD, I booted from the CD ROM, so it recognized it then. I can also
mount CDs using "mount /dev/acd0c" and can browse the contents of each
CD with the file manager or terminal. In /etc/fstab the CD is listed as
/dev/acd0c ISO9660. The CD ROM is a PCI. Do I have to compile support
for it into the kernel? Please send all responses to
joe.warner@smed.com, so I can read them at work today. Any info would
be appreciated. Thanks. Joe
