The BIOS detects the drive, and the early probe detects a device present as well, but ATA_IDENTIFY fails for some unknown reason. The drive works without issue in a different system, which runs Windows XP. System specifics: MSI K9ND Speedster-WA6 motherboard, with nVidia MCP55 Pro chip. Also tested on a PCI-X Marvell 88SX6081, but it has the same issues. This is all using ata(4), both with and without ATA_CAM. In the case of ATA_CAM (which I only tried to see if it would magically start to work), it seems it hangs for a long time while probing the SATA port on which this device lives, eventually giving up.
