Hey, folks he *asked* for it!

Yes: Emacs!

You can edit source code, compile, search for compiler errors, and debug
the exectuable, (not to mention e-mail, read news, browse the web, and
practically anything else) all within your editing environment.  It is
perhaps not quite as slick as some of the commercial Win packages, but
works quite well; I still use it at home on a 486/66, which feels about
as fast as my Pentium 166 at work running NT.  ;^)

Try it, you'll like it.
