I gave the patch a try but couldn't get the -S0 functionality
to work.  I suspect that either my BIOS is clearing the UART
before starting the mbr code, or that it's just leaving some
registers in an undesired state.  Maybe the rest of sio_init 
(other than the divisor) is needed in this case.
