Right, that is what I saw it do when booting from the HD containing
FreeBSD itself.

It is a plain spinup cmd afaik. 

So, in all I don't understand why, but it seems fixed now. I fetched a more
recent SNAP in the meantime and will install that sometime tomorrow.
