It is supported on both Linux and FreeBSD (man ahc).  The answer base is
out of date or perhaps they're making a distinction between drivers they
distribute from their website (that perhaps have had some verification
tests run) and drivers included in the free OS distribution that are
maintained by Adaptec engineers.
