How about adding "highest scoring matches" after the "limit the
number of results to..." line?

That is, it says now:
Limit the number of results to [25] sort by [score] [submit query] [reset]

That could be changed to:
Limit the number of results to [25] highest scoring matches 
Sort results by [score] [submit query] [reset]
