When I connect to my linux box via ISDN, the (old) linux box warns me: Unknown protocol (0x8057) received and the FreeBSD side says isp1: lcp: ignoring RXJ (proto-rej) for proto 0x8057, danger will robinson That is *without* user ppp, but maybe it's a similar problem. If I understand it correctly, FreeBSD tries to negotiate IPv6 (which the linux box doesn't handle yet). And maybe User PPP treats that as an error (while kernel PPP only warns about it -- "danger will robinson"). You probably must have a look at the code though.
