src/contrib/binutils/gas/doc/as.1 revision 1.1.1.2 (HEAD)
>Description:
In as.1's SYSNOPSIS, brackets are unbalanced.
"% man 1 as" shows:
as.1:12: `\|' is not allowed in an escape name
[snip]
SYNOPSIS
as [-a[dhlns]=file]] [-D] [--defsym SYM=VAL] [-f]
[snip]
Manpage as.1 contains following lines:
[snip]
.SH SYNOPSIS
.na
.B as
.RB "[\|" \-a "[\|" dhlns "\|]" \c
\&\[\|\=\c
^^ <- reporter inserted this line.
.I file\c
\&\|]\|]
[snip]
I think that author wanted to use "[", and that author did
not want to use "\[". ("\[" is prefix of "\[xxx]".)
After I removed "\" before "[", "man 1 as" shows:
[snip]
SYNOPSIS
as [-a[dhlns][=file]] [-D] [--defsym SYM=VAL] [-f]
[snip]
>How-To-Repeat:
% man 1 as
