I just launched Gimp. I made a new image with the "US Letter" size.

I opened as layers four pictures in the 2-3MB range.

This seemed to create some laundry. I didn't let it idle or anything. I killed
it and the laundry difference was 291MB.

Not sure why laundry would be created so quickly without any sort of "delete"
or idle activity.
