Subject: Bootable single user embedded cd - cdboot ?

Hi,

I'm in the process of building a bootable cd based system
for cold backup use. I want a cd to boot up single user and
launch a backup script. Use of floppy disks is not an option.

We are currently using FreeBSD 4.3.

I probably want to boot from a small (2.88M ?) container file system
and then mount the CD to get the rest. Alternately if mkisofs / burncd
supports it, I would boot from a large container file system with
everything present.

Trawling through the documentation, I have come across reference
to 'cdboot'. Where does this fit into the scheme of things ? Is it a
special kernel ? Is it a filesystem container like boot.flp, fixit.flp etc.

Has anyone out there generated a 'fixit_cd.iso' container file that I
could adapt for my bootable cd application ?

Regards,
Greg Laslett.
