I recently had a similar error with an ASUS TUSL2-C motherboard (Intel 815E chipset, Award BIOS) and a non-overclocked Intel PIII 933MHz processor. This was not the only symptom. As usual, the apparent demonic possession ended up being bad RAM. memtest86 flunked the RAM. I replaced the DIMMs and it appears to be fine now. This is, of course, completely unrelated to FreeBSD, but I thought I'd share for the archives. -Tenebrae.
