Is it possible that this bug and bug 153496
 (http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=amd64/153496) are related in some
way? FreeBSD on Hyper-V R2 worked fine with 8.0-RELEASE through
8.0-RELEASE-p5, so there appears to have been a breaking change between the
 8.0 and 8.1 releases.

As per 153496, I have an environment available for debugging or execution of
test/debug cases if someone can tell me what needs to be done (e.g. point me
 at the documentation).
