That's an overestimate of those that actually use rpm files to build the port as I just counted the number of ports that came up w/ a "make search key=rpm". As for actually grabbing rpms and installing them I believe there are 5 only ports that do this: linux_devtools linux_base popt xgammon logrotate 5 out of 3000 is not "many" in my book!
