Yes as it does use another entirely  different protocol. But it can replace
entirely rsh/rlogin/rsp. The X11 support is one of the primary features. It
is  even   compatible  in terms  of   IP  filters if  you    use RSA/Rhosts
authentication (port used downward from 1023) with rsh/rlogin.
