        Both, the SDT-9000 and the HP C1554A, have worked pretty well for
us.  Have not used the former under FreeBSD, I'm afraid.
        One word of caution regarding installation- the SDT-9000 has a
specific method of installing the face plate.  Please notice the manual.  We
spent hours thinking that the unit was bad when only the installation was a
issue.  The tape tends to get stuck if the front plate is not properly
installed.
