[...] For the record, changing hint.uart.1.at="acpi" hint.uart.1.port="0x2F8" to hint.uart.1.at="isa" hint.uart.1.irq="3" hint.uart.1.port="0x2F8" made the console work for the whole boot process, I guess some more magic is needed to make it work with acpi and the iLO Proliant G8/9.
