	Yes, all the time. Are you by chance using the memory limit options in
named.conf? They cause named to dump core in this way.

	Nothing. It's a bug in BIND, reportedly fixed in 8.1.2 which is due out
soon, as in the next few months from what I understand.

	You should probably do this in /etc/login.conf instead, but that's up
to you.

	I have a script that tests to see if named is running and starts it if
it's not. If you need a copy mail me privately.
