[-- Attachment #1 --] I am not sure if this is exaclty the right list for this question, but it's worth a shot.... Anyway, I have a small network setup with natd and a cable modem, and everything works pretty slick. I have a question dealing with performance.... During streaming applications (online gaming comes to mind since I host a lan every month with this small setup) natd seems as if it cannot keep up. There will be seconds (never more than 1) of lag that are not accountable for. I previously used linux for my gateway to the internet, which seemed to have no problem with the streaming applications. I was wondering if there is a faster implementation I could use as my gateway with freebsd. I have been reading about ipfw and ipfilter. Would ipfilter be any faster in this case?and is it easy to implement? or is there a way to speed up the nat translation using natd? Any help is appreciated, or any other lists I could post this on for an answer is also. Thanks [-- Attachment #2 --] <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <META content="MSHTML 5.50.4207.2601" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I am not sure if this is exaclty the right list for this question, but it's worth a shot....</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Anyway, I have a small network setup with natd and a cable modem, and everything works pretty slick.
