I'm not at home right now, but I could swear that my DAT drive negotiates synchronous data transfers at 5.0MB/sec. I'm using a 2940W and definitely have synch enabled in Adaptec BIOS. I'm running 2.0.5R. I've never had a problem with my tape drive with synch enabled. I've also run some pretty intensive tests on my two hard drives, CD-ROM, and the DAT drive without problems.
