[CC'ed to phk since he commited the warning message to sys/kern/kern_conf.c so he probably knows about this :-) ] When playing around with 4.1-STABLE, I get these messages during boot: fdc0: <NEC 72065B or clone> at port 0x3f0-0x3f5,0x3f7 irq 6 drq 2 on isa0 fdc0: FIFO enabled, 8 bytes threshold fd0: <1440-KB 3.5" drive> on fdc0 drive 0 fd1: <1200-KB 5.25" drive> on fdc0 drive 1 WARNING: "fd" is usurping "fd"'s cdevsw[] WARNING: "fd" is usurping "fd"'s bmaj There have been other people reporting the same on the mailinglists but nobody was able to explain them...
