Hello,

I am not sure who I am suppose to write concerning the errors I am having
with the latest 4.4 FreeBSD release.

I read Advanced Topics from freebsd.org:

http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/faq/advanced.html#KERNEL-PA
NIC-TROUBLESHOOTING

and have tried to follow your instructions on giving you the information you
need in order to do what you do. =)

Thankfully, I have not compiled a new kernel. So I am assuming that you can
find the corresponding function in the kernel symbol table.

Machine:
AMD-K6-450 socket 7
ATA100 hardrive (used on another FreeBSD 4.3 machine w/ no problem)
Memory is good (i have tested in all my other FreeBSD machines)
CDROM (i have tested in all my other FreeBSD machines)
Brand New AT case
ATI Rage IIC Video Card

kernel: GENERIC

the first instruction pointer is: 0x8:0xc02d50ff

then I reboot and it crashed as soon as you see:

Automatic boot in progress...

then I receive the Fatal trap 12: again. this time with a new instruction
pointer.

the second instruction pointer is: 0x8:0xc039f030

since I can't boot up, I can't tell you anymore than that. I have done this
(install => Fatal trap 12 => install) about 5 times. it seems to happen
when either compiling or using tar.

Please let me know if your the right person to send this too and if the info
is what you need to diagnose the problem. I am not looking for an answer I
just want to help FreeBSD. I love it and I hope I can help out in any way
possible. If I have sent this to the wrong person, I am very sorry. I
would hate to waste your time. Let me know if you need me to try this again
using something like gdb(1) or savecore(8).

Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you,

Nick Browning
