Context: I've updated to ports r368074 which updated Xorg, the drivers, and even gcc (to 4.8.3). I used portmaster -t -D -a. This was on...

FreeBSD FBSDG4S0 10.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 10.1-PRERELEASE #0 r271215: Sat Sep 6 23:56:15 PDT 2014 root@FBSDG4S0:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC powerpc

After this during an example logout from xfce4 I've gotten an example of the EQ overflowing notices for:

NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 when used at 1680x1050 on a PowerMac G4 Dual (1.4 GHz FW800)

Generally these EQ overflow messages seem to be tied to logout or Option-Fn in basic use. (This is still an syscons context by default for powerpc. At least Xorg.0.log reports that syscons is what is in use.)

So far I do not get these kinds of notices systematically for this context. Just infrequently.

Hi.

I've now had this EQ overflowing notice with a 1920x1200 display on the GeForce 7800 GT.

I'll note that I've updated to ports r368074 which updated Xorg, the drivers, and even gcc (to 4.8.3). This was on...

FreeBSD FBSDG4S0 10.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 10.1-PRERELEASE #0 r271215: Sat Sep 6 23:56:15 PDT 2014 root@FBSDG4S0:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC powerpc

but booted on a G5 PowerMac quad-core (so lots of unused RAM for powerpc/GENERIC).

[mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.
[mi] These backtraces from mieqEnqueue may point to a culprit higher up the stack.
[mi] mieq is *NOT* the cause. It is a victim.
[mi] Increasing EQ size to 512 to prevent dropped events.
[mi] EQ processing has resumed after 51 dropped events.
[mi] This may be caused my a misbehaving driver monopolizing the server's resources.

Context:

I built a 10.1-PRERELEASE r271215 (to test Justin Hibbits' changes for powerpc). I also used portsnap and then rebuilt my ports from scratch.

FreeBSD FBSDG4S0 10.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 10.1-PRERELEASE #0 r271215: Sat Sep 6 23:56:15 PDT 2014 root@FBSDG4S0:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC powerpc

(I'd be surprised if this was powerpc or PowerMac specific. But use of these old cards may be more likely for PCI-Express PowerMacs.)
