Now this is not good. Here is an advise: Keep the first install CD somewhere around or make FIX-IT floppies after installation. This can save you some headaches in the future. Well, now. You need to get a boot floppy. I THINK the install floppies could do the job. You might go to ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ then choose your release go into ./floppies download two *.flp files: kern.flp mfsroot.flp here you will also find README file which says how to use the flp files. and one utility to write the floppy images on the floppy which is located (relative to the floppies dir): ../tools/fdimage.exe that's it. Now you cannot miss. Just be carefull with what you do to the disk and don't destroy the filesystems. The other alternative is to swap the drive: e.g. reconnect the FreeBSD drive as primary master and see of it boots, if not, you might use some other tool, say, Norton Dist Editor. If you don't have one - go back to the floppies. If you got you FreeBSD boot, then you could run /stand/sysinstall right there and what what i said. You could also try switching the first boot device in the BIOS (make it D:) and see what happens. ----- Original Message ----- From: "vinod thomas" <cyberdude7791@yahoo.com> To: "Artem Koutchine" <matrix@ipform.ru> Sent: Sunday, December 17, 2000 9:36 PM Subject: Re: booting problem > dear sir, > but theres another problem- i dont have the > freebsd cd now.could u give me another alternative or > a site in the web where i could download the necessary > files required for it. > if so kindly specify the files and the site where i > could download it. > thanking you for your advice > regards, > vinod > > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Yahoo!
