It appears to be non-standard. Did you modify it? root@svr:/usr/home/wash # service mysql-server stop Stopping mysql. Waiting for PIDS: 29087. root@svr:/usr/home/wash # service mysql-server start Starting mysql. I don't see what you are seeing on my server.
