Hello, Since I currently don't have a Windows PC at home, I thought I'll try to get my Logitech QuickCam Web to work on FreeBSD. Although just mentioning "USB" and "webcam" in the same sentence as "FreeBSD" is enough to know that you're heading for stormy waters, I've gotten further than first expected. The USB controller is working and dmesg yields an identification of the camera attached to /dev/ugen0 (by identification, I mean it at least displays the=20 string "Logitech Camera"). Having installed SANE,=20 "sane-find-scanner /dev/[ugen0,usb,uscanner0]" says it finds an unknown USB scanner. The problem is where to go from here. The way I see it, there are two possibilities: 1. Find some webcam software that knows how to use ugen. 2. ugen, being a general USB device driver, is too general for any practical use of the webcam.=20 A specialised (non-existing?) driver for the QuickCam Web is needed. Possibility nr. 1 would lead to immediate success. Nr. 2 would most likely mean I abandon the project and wait for my new PC to arrive and I'll install the camera on Windows. As far as software goes, I've been looking at GnomeMeeting, which is the one I would really like to use, and xcam that came with SANE just for testing. Neither with any good results. GnomeMeeting only lists bktr[0,1] and meteor[0,1] as valid video devices. xcam doesn't list any and won't open ugen0.
