I have another bsdbox that is getting its IP through a Windows 2000 machine that is running DHCP. I have it set up so i can telnet to the 2000 machines IPand it will let me hit the bsdbox from the internet. For example: boot the bsdbox up and it gets 192.168.0.20. then i telnet to it from the internet through the 2000 box. OK no problems here. However, after about 2 mintues or so the telent connection drops. SO i go to the console on the bsdbox and ifconfig it only to find the damn thing has renewed it's IP! It stil works on the network and everything! Just has a new IP. THis only happens when i telnet to it from the internet. If i telnet to it in the local network it does not renew its IP. Any ideas? or similiar problems? G.
