Hi, some severe problems with a brand new DELL Latitude D600 laptop. It has a Broadcom BCM5702 Gigabit Ethernet, ASIC rev. 0x1002, on board. On the 1st boot FreeBSD 5.1-current from a self made CD-ROM (-current from yesterday) paniced during 1st boot from CD (just before installation). It had a Fritz PCMCIA card inserted. The next installation attempt from CD was, trying to boot without ACPI, which succeeded. Then after installation and reboot it turns out that I can boot without panic even with ACPI enabled. But it might be due to one change, I replaced the Fritz ISDN card with a 3COM 3CCFE575BT, since the broadcom bge0 interface doesn't run properly. In short, these are the problems: 1. bge0 driver doesn't find PHY Laptop is connected with a working shielded CAT 5 cable to a DLINK DI 804 DSL router who has a builtin 10/100 4-port switch supporting full and half duplex cabability. 2. pcmcia card is not recognized. 3COM 3CCFE575BT This card runs fine in -current on a Toshiba Satellite PRO 4360. You see pccardd -d output at the end of the log. 3. Panic with ACPI enabled and Fritz ISDN card inserted AVM Fritz!Card PCMCIA v2.0 (info on the label) I booted now with serial com console and with boot_verbose set At the end you see=20 - "uname -a" command- and - "pccardd -d" output Any chance to get that fixed ? Or do you think I'll better using FreeBSD 4.9 with that hardware ? Has 4.9 broadcom support ? boot -=08\=08|=08/=08-=08\=08|=08/=08-=08\=08|=08/=08-=08\=08|=08/=08-=08\=08|= =08/=08-=08\=08|=08/=08-=08/boot/kernel/acpi.ko text=3D0x3b3dc \=08|=08/=08= -=08\=08|=08/=08-=08\=08|=08/=08-=08\=08|=08/=08data=3D0x168c+0xee0 -=08sym= s=3D[0x4+0x5b30\=08+0x4+0x78b8|=08/=08] -=08\=08|=08/=08-=08\=08|=08SMAP type=3D01 base=3D0000000000000000 len=3D00= 0000000009f000 SMAP type=3D02 base=3D000000000009f000 len=3D0000000000001000 SMAP type=3D01 base=3D0000000000100000 len=3D000000001feae000 SMAP type=3D02 base=3D000000001ffae000 len=3D0000000000052000 SMAP type=3D02 base=3D00000000feda0000 len=3D0000000000060000 SMAP type=3D02 base=3D00000000ffb00000 len=3D0000000000500000 Copyright (c) 1992-2003 The FreeBSD Project. FreeBSD 5.1-20031024-SNAP (GENERIC) #0: Sat Oct 25 03:04:22 GMT 2003 Welcome to FreeBSD! Before seeking technical support, please use the following resources: o Security advisories and updated errata information for all releases are at http://www.FreeBSD.org/releases/ - always consult the ERRATA section for your release first as it's updated frequently. o The Handbook and FAQ documents are at http://www.FreeBSD.org/ and, along with the mailing lists, can be searched by going to http://www.FreeBSD.org/search/. If the doc distribution has been installed, they're also available formatted in /usr/share/doc. If you still have a question or problem, please take the output of `uname -a', along with any relevant error messages, and email it as a question to the questions@FreeBSD.org mailing list. If you are unfamiliar with FreeBSD's directory layout, please refer to the hier(7) manual page. If you are not familiar with manual pages, type `man man'. You may also use sysinstall(8) to re-enter the installation and configuration utility. Edit /etc/motd to change this login announcement. aklemm# bge0: PHY read timed out bge0: PHY read timed out bge0: PHY read timed out ps -ax PID TT STAT TIME COMMAND 0 ?? DLs 0:00.00 (swapper) 1 ??
