correct me if I am wrong, isn't that the default gw should be a machine
on your end, ie my.fake.ip, even though my.fake.ip and university.ip.addr
will have the same IP network address ?
The other observation, with ifconfig on slX (for serial interface X),
if you leave out the destination IP address, it will show that :
my.fake.ip ---> 0.0.0.0
on next ifconfig slX command, and it still DOES talk to the other end,
in which case, you MUST set your default route to the IP address of your
end, since the other end is not necessarily known.
