I ask about snapshots having /boot/kernel*/linker.hints files vs. not in part because https://wiki.freebsd.org/PkgBase has: • linker.hints was recreated at kernel install time, when we had .pkgsave files of previous modules • a new linker.hints file will be created during the next boot of the OS. after showing an upgrade step is to: # rm /boot/kernel/linker.hints I had removed such but later did a: # pkg check -as and that reported /boot/kernel/linker.hints as missing. Another possibility is that the file from the snapshot was appropriate but the instructions about removing do not apply to the context. If so, it is the wiki content that needs some adjustment. === Mark Millard marklmi at yahoo.comhelp
