I just talked to the ATA driver maintainer, and he said that he has a
patch for this and that it is a known problem.  Currently he's in the
middle of reorganizing the driver, but he will try and get this fixed
in current when he can.  You can e-mail him at sos@FreeBSD.org for
more details if you like.
