Hi, I.M.H.O. you can just use touch for creating /kernel.config and /boot.config the file should have mode 644 and be 0 bytes long (at least on my systems). Now the kernel.help file you could cp it from your /stand directory becuase a copy of that file lives their. You probably removed a few to many files when upgrading from 2.2.5 to 2.2.8.
