It's Cisco's precursor to 802.1q trunking. It stands for something like Inter-Switch Link. It's a jumbo ether packet with a vlan/color header encapsulating the original ether frame. Lots of small older Cisco switches have it. We could plug a FreeBSD box into, say, a c1924 and have 24 virtual interfaces from the router, each on its own vlan. :) Joe --oJ71EGRlYNjSvfq7 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.4 (FreeBSD) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAjp/SCMACgkQXVIcjOaxUBYObgCgk3GxPSDPmidahLeVvHB2v2pW j0cAn2sjYAT8XcIaCtPVglsgh1optcJ8 =r0VC -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --oJ71EGRlYNjSvfq7-- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-net" in the body of the message
