At least you didnt learn the "hard" way.  I started out by asking a
UNIX-knowing friend a question, he replied "man man" and wouldn't answer
questions for almost a month.  It made me get good at reading man pages,
and I learned *very* quickly, but I don't recommend this approach unless
you're obsessed (I was, and still am :)
