There's definitely no other machine on my network with the same IP address. I thought that the 192.168.1.* were reserved for internal networks, so is it possible for some machine outside with the same IP to be causing my troubles? Here's a little sketch of my network: ________ |FreeBSD|------Nic 1---> DSL --> Internet | | __________ _________------Nic 2 --->| HUB | __________ ^ ^ ________ | | |FreeBSD|------------------ | |________| | (problem machine) | | _________ | |Win 95 |------------------- _________ There's another Windows machine going into the hub. In all I've got four machines, with the following IP addresses: 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.3 192.168.1.4 (the problem machine) >If there were a duplicate on the local network, I'd >expect FBSD to >complain >about that (but maybe it wouldn't).
